Except for a few progressive bassists, probably in jazz more than rock (i.e. Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorious, Chris Squire, Billy Sheehan), chords are never used on the bass. Bassists play the bottom notes.
Actually if you are serious in this pursuit get a guitar chord book and maybe use the fingerings for the bottom 4 strings EADG. These are the same notes as a bass but they are up an octave.

First of all, it's a bass. You don't play chords on a bass. If you want a notes chart, buy a regular guitar chart at Wal Mart, and the first four strings on the guitar are the same tunings as a bass guitar.
So, to really do "chords" on a bass, you do the power chords like on the first four strings of a guitar.
