My backpack (more than 12 years old, probably not produced anymore, my favorite)

My wallet with my credit cards inside (wallet was a gift from a real good friend; though it is ugly, I'd take it with me)

My favourite pants (Levi's, my Mom bought them for me in 1996 and I can still wear them; don't think I could buy exactly the same now; cool that they still fit)

My notebook (contains all data gathered by me over the last 3.5 years)

That's probably it. And I must admit that everything could be replaced.

Dog, manuscript, writing folder with past work, an art piece of hand-carved crystal, a packet of photos, heirloom jewelry, address book, and 3 gifts given to me by someone special: a music box, a particular DVD, and a love letter.

it really depends on if you have to carry the items or not. i'm assuming that you mean "leave home" as in move out, and not "leave home" as in abandon it because of some natural disaster. one real point i'd like to ask is that if this is a question on your homework assignmentt, then the teacher wants to know what YOU would bring, not what random people online would bring. you need to learn to think for yourself.

it depends on were I am going,if it was out to wilderness,or a dangerous place,I would pack my gun,I would like to save alot of data from my PC so I would might wanna take my hard drive(if I couldnt take my whole PC) my guitar would be nice,my cell phone...cant think of much else that I would sorely miss here.this is of course ,if I had to leave my apt.if you mean parents, I left there with my car and that was about it.
