It was entertaining but fairly historically inaccurate. Commodus was a crazy tyrant but he was killed in his rooms the night before the games started. He also had a coruler. I think it was the boy...Lucius? He did like to participate in the games though. I have never read anything about Maximus. I don't think he was real???

Braveheart- William Wallace (performed by using Mel Gibson) leads Scotland in a Revolution against the King of britain. Kingdom of Heaven- its approximately whilst Saladin attacked Jerusalem. Orlando Bloom performs Balian, he instruments out for Jerusalem after he commits homicide to beg forgiveness. he finally ends up having to guard Jerusalem from Saladin Troy- the warfare between Greece and Troy Robin Hood- shows the story of Robin Hood in the previous he became an outlaw (Russle Crowe performs Robin Hood.and incase u did not comprehend, hes the comparable guy who performed Maximus on Gladiator) those are all super video clips

I loved it! Actually, I had to do a paper on it for an art history class, and rate it based on how accurate the artistic detail was throughout the movie. I rated it as an A.
Movies set in different time periods are my favorites.
I also liked the actors.
(thought of the Troy cast for a minute...getting tired I guess!)
