I am getting a chemical peel...I am 26, so I am not getting a real deep one, like you would get for wrinkles. Just for a few scars I have from my teenage years from breakouts. Has anyone had one, and if so, how painful are they?

How is it harmful, and why should I rethink it? I've tried just about every over the counter product, I don't know what else to do...chemical peels seem pretty routine.

Anywhere from no pain at all to like a bad sunburn. Peels can give you great result as long as they are done right and by a qualified person. You need to have realistic expectations also. If your scars are deep, it will not get rid of it 100%, but definitely improve it. After care makes a big difference too, make sure your doctor offers one.
(If not, run). I hope you are going to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

At 26, you shouldn't turn the peeling. It's quite harmful even if some are not painful. You can use an exfoliating gel and regular hydration masks instead.

i had one and it stings. it also makes your skin dry for a week or so.

it's harmful coz it might irritate your skin if it's your first time. ask the dermatologist about the side effects of it. for me, when i've had it done, my skin was so dry and whenever i wash my face it stings/burns. but that only lasted for about a week or two. up to you really. if you can stand it, go for it. and i think being 26 isnt really that young to get it done. i was 16 when i got mine coz of acne. well they gave me the mild chemical peel. so maybe go for the mild one first then see how it goes from there.
