RE:
What is the ideal ambient room temperature for a human being?
I know there is an ideal room temperature where a human being will be most comfortable - it was mentioned in an episode of Star Trek Next Generation (sad I know) but I cannot remember what it is - over to you guys...

You know, it's different for men and women. Women are better off when it's slightly warmer than the temperature men feel most comfortable with.
I think the best is if the temperature can be varied slightly, to keep the circulation. And it depends on the activity. I mean, when you are doing physical labour / exercise, it's more comfy to be cool (not cold); if resting, the temp had better be higher or you may get chilled. It also depends on personal metabolism... etc.
I don't think there is one temperature that will suit all; but I think the range 20-25 Celsius is acceptable for most people. (I find it cold at 20; one of my colleagues finds it hot at 25...)

Based on European conditions UK Latitude: 20-25° Celsius. But 27° are ok, if you use to.
Jump from one temperature to another quickly is something that we not use to do and our body will suffer to adapt. Its new in our evolutionary situation.
We are warm blood beings and we sweat we can adjust our temperature according to the environment.
Ambient room temperature is taking off our evolutionary skills and creating new high adapted beings....
Of course, all depends of your environment. People from Niger will be confortable at 30°Celsius, once they always lived within this temperature. 20° will be quite cold to them. Living near 17° degrees all the time without air conditioning, will use to be confortable with it.
Take care about standards when ou talk about flexible beings!

it is recommeneded that babies and small children are settled to sleep in a room between 18-21 degrees so they don't overheat,if that's anything to go by. Personally,I'd freeze. I really feel the cold and have my heating set to about 26/27 from around september.
Loving this so called 'heatwave'. It's hot and dry in mid July-surely that's just Summer?

If I remember right from school it is 21c. But when sleeping I think it should be about 17-18c.
They are both ambient temps I think.
