Charlotte N.C. is the unofficial home to about 90% of all the Nascar race teams from the Craftsman Truck, Busch, and Nextel Cup series. Mooresville NC (about 20 miles north of Charlotte) is the home to the most race teams of any town, but Concord, Kannapolis, and Harrisburg also have some shops. On a side note, there are also tons of drag racers and sports car teams based here as well.

Mooresville, NC bills itself as "RACE CITY USA". But Charlotte is where the NASCAR Hall of Fame is going to be built. Lowe's Motor Speedway is in Concord, NC. All three cities are within 30 miles of each other. Also in between these cities is Lake Norman a very ritzy neighborhood where alot of the drivers live, so I'd say the whole area around Charlotte is the "Home of Nascar".

Well... any city that hosts a Nextel Cup race on the calendar would like to make the claim "Home of NASCAR..." and far as that goes, the only city that can really make the claim on those grounds would be Daytona, Florida--home of the Daytona 500; the biggest race (and the first race) in the Nextel Cup season. A close second would be Charlotte, North Carolina, the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

daytona is where NASCAR headquarters are located, if that's what you're asking. but the greater charlotte area(moorsville, concord, harrisburg) is where all the race shops are and where most of the drivers and crew members live. i lived in charlotte for 2 years(one of the most beautiful skylines in america) and as much as they love their carolina panthers, NASCAR is a religion in that town
