yes you can do this all you have to do is contact your current phone company and request your PAC code (from the company you want to keep your number from) and when they give you this tell the new phone company this code it takes a few days to process i have done it in the past.

I think if you buy the new sim card from the same service provider, and ask for keeping your number, it may be possible. In some cases, even in those conditions it's not. If you change to another service provider - no way.

Um dunno what provider some of these people are using, I know with Cingular it's easy - you call up, say "I have a new SIM card", and they ask you for that big long number on it and change the information on your existing account (and therefore number). Simple as that. The only thing you have to be aware of is, your old SIM card won't work anymore (won't be able to swap it to another phone & use it with the old phone #, won't be able to activate it under a new #).

Yes but i am not sure about changing networks. If you are not changing networks contact your network and they can do a migration of your old number to the new Sim. I have done this by the way.

Yes, period. There are no tricks. Simply let your service provider know. However, once you activate the new card, the old one will not be usable again.

Yes it is, if the service provider is the same.
just ask them you want your previous number with new sim, they will do it but they may cost some thing.
For other service provider, it is not possible.
