I have played omaha and hold-em online for a couple of years, and have some pretty good rankings. I would like to go to my local casino and get in the action there. How do you do it? What are the rules? What happens if you need to use the bathroom? Is there a specific dress code? How much $ does it take to enter and play? I'm not worried about my poker face or how to play, just the other stuff involved with it. Help???

The rules of the games are precisely as they are online.

If you need to use the bathroom, just get up and leave. It is typically understood that you're just away momentarily and the dealer will see to it that your chips are safe.

I've never heard of a casino poker room that has a dress code, but wear something classy... Like a bikini and heels. Just kidding. ...No I'm not.

The minimum buy in varies from one casino to the next and also depends on the stakes. I'm poor and only play the the lowest limit games, which are usually like 2-4 and 2-6. The minimum for those is usually around $50, although you'd want to buy in for at least $200 in order to give yourself a reasonable chance at winning at a game like that.

Just a few other things to keep in mind:

1. String betting is not allowed. This is to say that when you place your chips out to make your bet, you must do it all in one hand motion. You can't go to your chips, bring some out, then go back to your chips and raise the bet unless you audibly say "raise" before you make the motion.

2. You're not allowed to speculate out loud when other players are still involved in the hand. So for example, if a person makes a bet and someone else is pondering their action, you can't say something like "Hmm... He could have a straight or a full house..."

edit: Just remembered one more important thing...

3. You're not allowed to take chips off the table unless you're done playing and getting up to leave.

If you have any other questions about procedure, the pit bosses and dealers are usually very friendly and willing to help.

Good luck!

Dress comfy but not ragged. Go in with the knowledge that you know the game but KEEP UP! Its not the same as on line poker. You hold the game up and people get PISSED OFF fast..

When you have to be excused do it just after your blinds. They will fold your hands. But don't take all night to go.

If you play on line at Poker Stars look me up. Niton is the nic.

Dear, the best thing to do is pick a casino you'll likely visit, and call or visit there to find out all these things. It varies from state to state, so no answer is in stone here.

As for the bathroom, you can sit out hands to do that.
