Im buying a dell (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DXPS400F1E&s=dhs) and it comes with a video card ATI Radeon X300 SE HyperMemory 128mb, i was wondering if there is any noticeable difference if i only use this to watch movies. Because Right now my computer is running a Radeon 9200SE 128mb and i cant see any difference compared to anyone else. even a 300$ video card. Is it just me? does this really affect movie watching?. And the same about Audio cards. I have a Sound blaster 5.1 and dont know if its worth upgrading to a THX sound card. would there be noticable difference?

There is no difference between any graphics cards made in about the last five years or so unless the video you are trying to watch is in high definition. As for the sound card, it's only as good as the speakers you're plugging into it.

There is a difference. I don't know how these other people could say what they did. Have you heard of hardware acceleration, HD support, H.264, DVI in/out. Dual monitor support so you can watch a movie and do work at the same time. There is a lot of improvement between old video cards and new ones. I purchased a ATI X850 for about $200 and it has a ton of video features. Comparing an old video card to a new one is like comparing a model T to a new corvette.

U will not find any difference unless u watch Movies in High Definition format. The movies with high definition would look better wid the graphics card than otherwise.

nicely, Soundcards are literally ineffective for movies and song, i think there particularly only solid for gaming, and regardless of a solid sound card your gonna choose some solid audio equipment to offer it some justice, so i'd say No

Of course. There are high-definition video cards that are sometimes more expensive than a regular computer.

You won't see any difference between your video card and any better one when watching movies.

James is wrong, everybody else is right. No difference if all you want to do is watch standard movies.

naw it doesnt really

except if its really crappy then you'll get dropped frames and stuff but it shouldn't make too much of a difference

unless its high definition, you'll want the best you can afford for that
