That is a very good question. I do not understand it either. Why is it ok for Isreal to have nuclear weapons , but any other mideast country it is completely unexceptable.

It is disgusting to me that on the TV, Isreal loses 9 soldiers and it is horrible, yet Lebenon loses over a thousand and its like they deserved it.

I think it is an atrocity that the US is not making them stop. We are quite a great country arent we? really leaders for peace?

As has been asked by other people answering this - what's so barbarian about it? Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and an important friend in the war on terrorism. On a daily basis Israel is fighting the world's war against an enemy entrenched in a culture of death where the main goal is not securing some political agenda, but the eradication of a nation, the West in general, and the Jews. And what's this "every war" business. Israel seized the Suez Canal in operations with France and the UK and was forced by the US to give it back. In every war Israel has every fought, the US has never participated directly. During the Gulf War, when Hussein was launching missles at Israel, the US was explicit in telling Israel not to bomb Iraq in retaliation and Israel complied, even though it had every right to respond. When it comes to peace, Israel is constantly being pressured by the US (as well as the nations of the rest of the world) to make the sorts of concessions no nation would ever make on its own. If anything, much more is expected of Israel than of almost all other nations perhaps solely because of its relationship with the US. Also, don't forget that Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle East.

Lets face it America hardly has any proper allies in the middle east and they found one in Israel and I feel that they want to keep that ally blindisiding any of Israel's faults. Barbaric it may not be exactly but blind support is not the right thing at all. It does not even criticize Israel at all but instead blames everything on Syria or Iran. That has to stop. Israel had no right to kill thousands of lebanese civilians and 4 un observers because hezbollah kidnapped 9 of its soldiers. If it was any other country USA would have termed it 'genocide' 'radicalism' however because its Israel USA does nothing. This is really weird and proves that the US administration really does what it feels would help itself at the expense of others even if its civilians.

No. In fact, it is just the opposite. Israel is a nation seeking peace and prosperity, i.e. trying to embrace a rational existence amidst a swarm of irrational neighbors. But these irrational neighbors don't want to see Israel succeed. Thus, they attack with bombs, rockets, and even infantry assaults; Israel responds with force only because it is forced to.

Israel is no barbarian, but its attackers are. And America sides with Israel to ensure that our rational ally is not destroyed by an irrational ideology.

I don't doubt their sincerity, but most politicians must be pro Israel. Bob Novak just reminded readers this week that moderates like Senator Charles Percy were defeated in years past because they were not. The Arabs are beginning to take advantage of our political process, but they don't have the same clout. The recent port controversy shows that the public is too suspicious.

For one thing its a smart thing to do.
For another thing Israel is the only true democracy in the
Middle East.
For another thing God wants the US to bless Israel in every way.
I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!
GO ISRAEL!!! Jesus is Lord!!!
EDIT: Israel is the best friend anyone could have in the war
on terrorism.

Because the US helped create the nation of Israel after WWII.

In other words, we don't like to admit we're wrong.

Israel has actual moral values. America can't just stand by and watch a terrorist organization attack innocent Israelis.
