Continue to wear the KNEE IMMOBILIZER as recommended by your physician. Try to stay off of the knee and knee it elevated on pillows when sitting. You say you do not want to take the pain medicine but you will not be taking enough to effect your liver and there is really no need for your to suffer so take the medicine as recommended. You may also apply ice at 20 minutes three to four times a day. Also try taking an anti-inflammatory medicine such as Mobic or any other Nsaid. Good luck.

Use mild heat before exercising your knee after the immobilizer comes off, when you must move it and use ice on it after any exercise of that knee. The cruciate ligaments are the thinner bones which are attached to and support the sides of your knee.
You are going to have to refrain from high impact activities in the future if you want to preserve your ligaments and bones of the knee. If you continue to take excessive risks and injure yourself, you may need to have surgery for prosthetics. So, please be more careful.

Consult your doctor, but use aspirin or tylenol or Aleve, and put an ice pack on it for a short while.
