It isn't. I asked my hairdresser this same question when I was pregnant. I have heard that your hormones can cause the color to be a little off but this never happened to me. As long as you are in a well vented area you will be fine.

I am 5 months pregnant and was wondering the same thing. So i browsed the Internet and asked my doctor friend and asked hair dressers that same question. It is not recommended but there is NO actual proof of it causing harm to your baby and that is why doctors don't recomend it.
What i have been told is this: It isn't dangerous at all as long as you are in a well ventilated area and have no open woulds on the scalp and your not a high risk pregnancy. They don't use the harmful chemicals as they once did. Some people are more sensitive to the dies when pregnant though but that's about it. If it was so dangerous anyways the hair salons etc. would not be aloud to do it. I died my hair when i was pregnant w/ my other 2 kids and they turned out just fine. As far s bleaching i am unsure. Everyone will have there opinions so it is really up for you to decide.

Unfortunately there is no clear answer since there have been no scientific studies done to address the use of hair dye in pregnancy. While there is no actual evidence available that hair dye is harmful during pregnancy, many practitioners recommend not dying hair in the first trimester when the fetal organs are forming. Processes like highlighting, which don't contact the scalp (unlike hair dye), probably are fine because they don't get into the body.

It isn't dangerous to dye your hair. Hair dye doesn't really have that many fumes. If you are talking about bleaching your hair, you are right you need to be in a well ventilated area. But it will not absorb into your skins. But ventilation is important when you dye/bleach your hair anyway because the fumes aren't really good for you anyway.

I spoke to my doctor and he said it wasn't safe to use a permanent colour, due to the dye soaking into your skin. It could definitely harm the baby. I used a semi-permanent dye to colour my hair while I was pregnant and did it outside. My little guy is 2 months now and has no problems.

I am a lay-man. I do not propose to give a medical advice. However, I am of the view that you have to avoid things which are even remotely harmful to the baby in you and yourself. You must be sacrificing many things, for the sake of the baby. Why not this also?
My best wishes for the delivery of a healthy baby and for your good health.

Don't trust what a hairdresser says. they do NOT have a medical degree. According to www.babycenter.com it is not recommended to color your hair in the first trimester because that is when the major organs are developing. It is not worth the risk to the fetus just in order to make yourself look better. I am also pregnant and asked my OB/GYN and he told me the same thing. Wait until your 2nd trimester.

It actually hurts the one who is pregnant too because it is chemicals that your body needs to clean out of your system. You also breath in the fumes. You don't want to get toxic.Your body is already working overtime .
Drink a lot of water to flush the toxins no matter what.
