Of all of the wonderful little tortures of menopause I am finding the memory loss to be the most upsetting. Outside of being a 'normal' part of this interesting time of life I can't find any information on how long it lasts. Does anyone have any idea if this is a permanent change, or will I regain my ability to have intelligent conversations again?

According to Taber's Medical Dictionary, symptoms that may last from a few months to years vary from being hardly noticeable to severe. Memory loss (or any kind of mental confusion) was not listed among the signs or symptoms. I assume you are 50+? This is the age when most persons start to notice a diminished memory. I don't think it has anything to do with menopause. Perhaps the symptoms occured at the same time & are unrelated and you assumed it was part of the menopause pocess. Possible? Try Ginko Biloba. There is much research done on it and it has been proven to improve memory loss.

Personally I think the memory loss is the result of lack of sleep and constant distractions thoughout the day caused by the malfunctioning internal thermostat! When that darn thermostat is constantly clicking on and off it is taxing to the brain and who can remember five minutes ago when you are heading for an ice cold slushie and a blankie. Slushie - cherry slus what was the question?
