Good for you for posting this! I agree entirely.
About 10 years ago, the BMI (body mass index) scale for women was changed, and the number to determine if a woman is overweight was lowered from 27 or 28 (I don't remember which one) to 25. There was a huge outcry from female athletes, and one of the most vocal groups was a women's crew (rowing) team at one of the Ivy League schools in the US. Under the new standards, almost all of the women on the team were considered overweight, and the University's insurance policy demanded higher premiums to cover them. As they were all athletes at the top of their sport, they had to have regular physicals, and they were all in peak condition. But an arbitrary number dictated that they were overweight. While they were getting the insurance bit worked out, they had to forfeit meets with other schools, because the didn't have enough of their fastest and strongest rowers left to fill a boat.
Another case involves a woman who is a medal-winning Olympic weigh lifter from the US. She cannot get health insurance of any kind because of her weight, yet doctors have certified that she is in excellent physical condition, has no adverse physical conditions from being overweight, and has no family history that leads them to believe she will ever have problems. Her reason for being overweight? Too much muscle mass on her frame. She does have a layer of fat over the muscle, but the muscle itself is what is causing her to be so overweight for her height; the fat is a result of her being female and having to eat a lot to be able to power lift. She is not cut and defined like a female body builder, but then no female body builder could ever dream of lifting the kinds of weight she lifts daily in training.
The world is filled with beautiful women who take care of themselves, love their bodies, and take pride in their appearance. Thank goodness they realize they don't all have to be a size 6 to do that. And if the truth be told, when I see a really skanky woman, more often than not, she is very thin, as well.
Why can't we just start looking at the insides, where the real person is, rather than making silly distinctions and judgements based on the surface?

As for physical looks, I rather take a fella with some meat on his bones than those skin 'n' bones skeleton things.
And model skinny never looked healthy nor pretty to me. Keep wanting to grab those girls off the runway and force feed them or something.
Folks are too obsessed with appearances.
Can't have two scoops of ice cream 'cause someone will think I'm a pig, rather than just hot.
Can't hang out with a male friend 'cause someone will think we're dating.
Can't have a drink 'cause someone will think I'm an alcoholic.
yadda, yadda, yadda.
Wonder how many true loves and dear friendships have been lost before they were ever have simply because people judged by appearance rather than actuality?

You are absolutely right!!!
My boyfriend says "Some people are just meant to be big." He is not put off by my size, and the first time (and every time since then) we made love, I felt sexy for the first time in my life!
FYI Marilyn Monroe was a size 16, which is plus size - would you call that fat and ugly????

IN some cases its often what you eat. THE calories you choose. BUT heavy people often time grab the wrong food type. LIKE a apple instead of a candy bar. WALKING around the yard.Instead watching 4 hours of TV. ITS choices most of the time.HEAVY people can be healthy while loosing the weight too. and thin people can do the same(watch what you eat).

There's ugly people everywhere. On the inside and out, no matter what their size. That's why I like Monique, she's honest, and doesn't stress over weight.

People always thinkin that fat people are that way cause they dont excerise or eat well, not true some people are fat by their gene pool, Also fat people usually have a better personality and thats why they usually get the better guys or girls Yea there are fat people who eat to eat and thats why they're fat, but then again they dont ever come out the house unless its to buy food, . those are the people who are nasty and gross, not all fat people do that

You have a point there, but all I can say is "BEAUTY IS SKIN DEEP".. means that the real beauty of a person whether fat of thin, is beyond the physical looks... it takes it roots from within.
