I am a full time student majoring in Mass Communications/Journalism, and I'm hoping for a career in journalism someday, hopefully at a magazine. I've still got a lot of school to go, and only have the availability for part time. I've tried to find internships, but I have zero experience. I want to have something to put on my resumee, and gain some experience in the field. However, I don't have much time and I need to pay the bills too. Any suggestions?

Try to write some freelance articles for smaller special insterest magazines and local newspapers in your spare time to get some "clips" (published stories). Look at Writer's Market--it's a book you can purchase or get from the library. It lists all of the magazines etc. Try your local newspaper and the paper at your college.

Internships are for people with no experience--so keep looking. Some are unpaid though.

Consider a career in public relations--you get paid more and you write all day.

Have you seemed into fitting a librarian (calls for a MLS measure)? They gain knowledge of approximately discovering a vast sort of print and web resources, as good as educating their consumers easy methods to do a little of that for themselves. Working as a librarian will also be particularly a numerous paintings, principally if you're on a small employees. There don't seem to be plenty of openings. The pay is commonly mediocre. Cities, colleges, schools and so on. rent librarians. There are separate legislation libraries (I'm now not certain whether or not they're county or for personal regional corporations of attorneys). Some colossal corporations have their possess libraries, and a few executive complexes do, as good. Talk to a few librarians and get their view of the profession and probably their recommendations for you on a detailed subject or well areas to get your MLS measure (after your BA).

Try to get a job with a temp agency. Let them know your interests. Ask your professors of any opportunities they may know of. Also, it would be nice to volunteer some of your time if only 10 hours a week at the local (popular) radio/news station. So, it sounds like an internship, but it is more of resume builder for u. Hope this helps
