Well I dont know about abnormal but they are on a level in their own mental health where they can understand and relate to their patients or other human beings.

They aren't abnormal. They rather use all their spare time analyzing everything. That's why it's difficult for them to carry conversations, they are analyzing your every movement and word so that is why they seem weird.. the tend to trail off from conversations and everything else going on.
