the desktop appears in the WORD page with the icons and taskbar intact, I mean as it was at the time of saving. Now as I forgot how I did it, others think I am just reluctant to show them the trick. Please help.

Minimize all Windows. Hit Win + D .
Better close all other programs.
The win buttoon is the button beside Spacebar with a windows picture.
Now Hit the Print Screen button . Some keyboards may hv it as PrnScrn. Open Microsoft Word. Press CTRL+V .
The Desktop has been saved as an Image in the word file.
But You may still find the the taskbar with minimized window of programs running in background. SO it is preferable that u close all programs and then hit Print Screen.

You pressed the shift-prt sc button while you were working then you PASTED the clipboard's contents into an open word document.

Print screen. It copies the screen .

Just do a screen capture.
