Tampons are just fine. Don't panic about leaving it in longer than 8 hours. TSS is EXTREMELY rare. I heard on the news that its only happeded to a handful of women ever, but it was one of those things that got overly publicized and now everything is afraid of tampons.

i sleep with a tampon all the time. for longer than 8 hours. if you've never done it before you'll probably be fine.
although no one can guarantee that it is ok, i would say you have a pretty safe bet of doing it.

Yes, tampax and playtex say right on them that you should be alright to use them overnight for up to 8 hours. Then you really NEED to change so you don't put yourself at risk for TSS. I have never had a problem using tampons overnight.

oh definitely. they say to not leave it in for longer than 8hours but I regularly leave mine in for 10hours or so, depending on how long I sleep. Don't worry about it. Put a tampon in and go to bed.

Yes, just put it in just before you go to bed, and remove it or change it as soon as you get up. You should be fine.
