Sweetheart,
these are the legitimate answers:

20: 2.62
21. 5.78
22. 8.65
23. 7.57
24. 3.29
25. 4.33
26. 2.05
27. 0.77
28. -1.31
29. 2.22
30. -4.36
31. 0.94
32. -0.34
33. 0.42
34. 0.61
35. -2.63

Of course, only going to the nearest hundredth isn't extremely exact. If you want to check my answers then substitute all of my answers in for the variables and solve them for yourself. You will see that the answers you come up with aren't exact and that is due to the fact that they are only rounded to the nearest hundredth. Hope this helps...

I will help you with only one. You can figure out the rest. We'll use number 20 as the example.

13x-7=27

well, find the two numbers that are alike, those being -7 and 27.
Since 7 is a negative number, you would add it's opposite to the 27. Therefore, you would add 7 to the -7 and then add 7 to 27. The 7's cancel each other out.

you now have 13x=34

now you divide 13x by 13 and divide 34 by 13.

you now have x=2.6153846153846153846153846153846

rounded to the nearest 100th the answer would be x=2.62

now you should be able to finish the rest. Good luck!

That's kind of an odd question. I'm guessing they want you to round off to the nearest hundredth to make it easier to check your answer. If you were designing rockets or building bridges, rounding off would be a very bad idea.

The idea here is to isolate the variable (the letter) by itself on one side of the equation. You do this by either adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing both sides of the equation equally. To start with #20:

13x - 7 = 27
13x - 7 +7 = 27 + 7 (added 7 to both sides)
13 x = 34
13 x / 13 = 34 / 13 (divided both sides by 13)
x = 34/13, or 2.615385
x ≈ 2.61

To check your answer, plug in 2.61 in place of x:
(13 * 2.61) - 7 =
(34.06) - 7 =
27.06

The rounded answer comes pretty darn close to the intended result in the original formula (in this case, 27) so you know you did it correctly.

For equations with variables on both sides, like 30-35, the procedure is similar:
9.47x = 7.45x - 8.81
9.47x - 7.45x = 7.45x - 7.45x -8.81 (subtracted 7.45x)
2.02x = -8.81
2.02x / 2.02 = -8.81 / 2.02 (divided by 2.02)
x = -4.36139
x ≈ -4.36

To check, swap out x and replace it with -4.36. Each side of the equation comes out to 41.29, give or take, so you know you're right.

I'll do one, step by step. You do the rest

13X - 7 = 27

13X - 7 + 7 = 27 + 7 (add 7 to both sides of equation)

13X = 34

13X / 13 = 34 / 13 (devide both sides by 13)

X = 2.62 (2.5613846 rounded to nearest 1/100)

These are very basic algebra problems...You can do it on your own! Here's a hint, isolate the variable first.
