I have plantar fasciitis. For my regular shoes, I wear Dansko and I haven't had foot pain since I started wearing them. I know you can't weare them for football, but perhaps when you're not playing? Here are the men's sports Danskos:

For summer, I'm wearing Mephisto sandals and again, I've had no foot pain all summer since I've been wearing them... And I'm wearing them every day.
Hope you find a good shoe and treatment!

I just got over that from suffering from it for a year. I never went to a Dr. but a friend of mine is a physical therapist and she told me how to wrap it and an exercises to do a few times a day and it was GONE in a week... Goggle plantar facitus and it will show you a way to wrap your foot with an ace bandage, and the exercises are that you lean up against a wall with your bad foot way out behind you, trying to keep the whole foot on the floor. Push your heel down. The idea is to stretch that muscle. It hurts at first, but keep doing it, it gets easier and then you can do it every time your foot starts to hurt and it will help a lot. Good luck!

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia (a tough connective tissue that spans the arch of your foot). There are some things you can do to help. But, I encourage you to check with your doctor if you haven't already.
1. Ice massage over arch of foot. Rub ice cube over your arch for 10-20 minutes 3-5 times per day.
2. Put a tennis ball on the floor and place your bare foot on top of the ball so it rests in your arch. With moderate pressure, roll your foot back and forth over the ball for 20 minutes. Do this a few times a day. This will help to stretch the plantar fascia.
3. Taking over-the-counter anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen (Alleve) may help reduce the inflammation and pain. Check with your doctor before taking any new medication and do not exceed recommended dosage.

Jason. I have this same problem right now. Its hurting really bad. You cannot play in the games with out making it worse. You need to soak it in epson salts and keep the stress of weight off your foot till it heals. Its not fun at all I know. I hope it gets better for you soon.

I also suffer from it and I feel your pain. You need to see a foot doctor and have orthotics made. They are an insole that's made especially for your foot and they work wonders. Good luck.
