If you want to load XP and SP2 at the same time you can "Slipstream" SP2 onto XP. It works great and eliminates security vulnerabilities. See here http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm

I suppose you want to re-install your laptop with the new OS: window xp prof.version 2002 service pack 2
First, goto BIOS, make sure it boot the CD/DVD drive first, then the harddisk.
After that, slot in your Windows CD, then save the BIOS and exit.
And you have your new OS loaded from the CD, then just follow the instructions.

Simple. Tell your BIOS to boot from CDROM if it is not set already. And then insert the XP CDROM and follow the prompts. You may need to get specific hardware drivers for your laptop, but if your laptop is oldish, say more than 2 years, then the XP CD should have them all. If not just follow the prompts to allow windows to search for the drivers.
