In a way, yes. The logo has become an icon of pop culture. It represents many things we desire in society, such as a high socio-economic status. It's not so much as the coffee that we are paying $3.99 per cup for, but rather what holding the trendy cup says about us.

If you let food or drink change the way you live, you have a problem. For example, if you let alcohol change the way you live, you're an alcoholic. If you let Starbucks change the way you live, you're a moron.

Remember when Starbucks was a neat place for pseudo-intellectuals and college kids to hang out? Now its turned into an addiction for worn out professionals and a sweet elixir for young children who like to drink their frappacinos on skateboards.

Anyway, Starbucks is all sugar; it's empty calories, turns your teeth yellow and gives you bad breath. Personally, I'd rather have some whiskey in the morning, but my conscience forces me to settle for Total, milk and a banana.

So is Starbucks Coffee changing the way we live? I hope not. I don't drink the stuff. In fact, I never have. OK, once I helped some girls study for some final there and I had some kind of overpriced hot apple cider. It was good, but should have asked for no cream. Who puts whipped cream in cider?

What do you mean the "way we live". Do you mean the fact that there's a longer line at Starbucks half the time then there is in the woman's bathroom at a concert. It just means we as national are coffee drinker.....England drinks tea we drink coffee.

I suppose if you look at it Starbucks should be the poster child for America. They took a product that every likes and enjoys, got them hooked convinced everyone through marketing you NEED it and it's cool to consume it and learned how to mass produce it cheaply and efficiently....even if it is a monstrosity to the taste buds....and now is a multi-million corporation.

I think that is called Capitalism.....or a drug dealer. *shrug* depends how you look at it....isn't caffeine a stimulant? Hmmmm.........

yes very much so and this is what makes them so successful! They have what you call a corporate culture and this is making them extremely popular...Now little kids are going into Starbucks and ordering drinks with their parents! If you go to Seattle or any other major city there are 4 Starbucks within a city block and if you in there at anytime of the day they will all have lines!

Yeah - We have too many Starbuck's Coffees & McDonald's restaurants / other fast food chains, too many Border's / B. Dalton's, corporate chains in this society, & it tends to suck the variety & flavor out of life. Next time I go to a bookstore, it'll be an independent book - seller. Next time, I'll patronize a local Mom & Pop deli instead of a chain like DQ or McDonald's. Or I'll go to a small, independent coffee shop or bar.

Flavor & Variety !!

For a number of people, yes. Who would have ever thought people would pay $8 for a cup of coffee when coffee is stil about $1.10 in most other places. You can flavor it, but you can not get foam, soy, sugar-free. Yes, we have come a long way???

Actually I seldom have been there. It would have changed my life if I would have bought their stock 15 years ago. My idea was why would anyone bother with coffee? Oh well.
