don't know, but I would vote for Colin Powell if he ran for President, and I am a Democrat who thinks he was wrong to sit before the world and lie about reasons to go to war in Iraq, however, he gave his honor to the office of the presidency, to his profession, he is a good dignified man, highly decorated dignitary,,,,,,

Because the Republicans have gotten away with gerrymandering in-between times when the Census is taken, and this has now been blessed by the Republican appointed Supreme Court.

What that means is that Republicans have redrawn voting district maps in such a way as to divide up traditionally black neighborhoods because they know that most African-Americans vote for Democrats. For an Afro-American to get into office, all these forces would have to be countered. This is one reason why we need to vote the Republicans out of office wherever possible. Then we will have the opportunity for a more racially and ethnically balanced Congress, and laws that matter to ordinary people can be enacted.

I don't know, but I do know that President Bush is the first President
to have elected a number of minoritys to his cabinet. Colin Powel, and Condileeza Rice, are 2 blacks that I can think of off hand and
I believe he also nominated one of the first latinos. I know some
people don't care for Bush but that is just one of the many
reasons I like him. For all of President Clinton's claims to be one
of the "blacks" I also wondered why he didn't nominate anyone other
than white to his cabinet.

Because black people became part of the Us democratic scene somewhere around half a century ago unlike white men who have been at it as far as the US dates as a country(not counting native countries). You'll see them up there in a while.
