We have more people missing work at my office due to alcohol than because of tobacco.

Come to Canada - taxing all "pleasures" has long been a practice - and the tax generated serves to fund (in part) our universal healthcare programs.

Why don't we tax toilet paper and etc.? Alcohol is taxed like tobacco, why not hit everyone's pocket? What do u like, bubble gum, let's tax it a little higher? Maybe gas? Get off just a few and let's tax all.

Boy you really have to research your question more. Alcohol is taxed to the hilt already.
The price of a botal of Burbin is 5 times the price that is costs to produce it.
The rest of the price is tax.
