I am so freaking MAD over this. How in the **** is she NOT GUILTY?????!!!!!!! I can not believe this. Maybe guilty by insanity but definatley NOT a verdict of not guilty. SHE FREAKING DID THE CRIME, THEREFORE SHE IS GUILTY!!!

Well, probably the thinking is this: No matter how competent and alert a person may seem, no one who is completely in their right mind would kill their children. Most mental illnesses aren't constant, just recurrent. I personally don't think that she is all there if she could do something like this. Insanity is considered a ruling of not guilty because, if a person is insane, they cannot truly discern right from wrong at the time the crime is committed.

You seem to be too mad to consider my answer, and it won't be a popular one, but here is its.

Postpartum Depression makes you crazy, and it is hard to understand if you have never had it. Since so few people do have it I was surprised the jury came back with that verdict.

Back when she killed her kids I didn't have any kids and I felt like you, I thought she should get the death penalty. Now that I have 2 kids and had severe Postpartum Depression with both of them (She had what is called Postpartum Psychosis) I feel sorry for her. She will have to live in her own prison for the rest of her life knowing she killed her own children. No normal mother could kill her children, (fathers do sometimes.) Having her locked in a real prison forever would just be a waste. I wouldn't say she "got away with it."

I hold her partly responsible for what happened, she should have asked for help and/or not had 5 children.

But, her husband should have known something was wrong, you don't just one day snap, it is a downward spiral, he should have had some clue.

Yes she should have been found guilty, and put to death (IMO) no matter what! So now she will be put in a nut house for a few years, and then some dumb butt Dr. will say she is all better there for she will get away with murder.. That is just not right, but that's the way the law goes. Like it or not.

I totally agree with you. Did I hear they only tried her on three of the murders????? What is it kill 3 and get 2 free? Where is the justice in that? I agree with her doing the time too. It is just as if someone plans out a murder and caries it out they should not be allowed to claim insanity....if you have sense enough to aim a gun and pull a trigger then you have sense enough to pay for it.

oh yes i agree with you she knew what she was doing if someone went out and murdered five strangers they would more than likely get the death penalty but i guess it is ok to murder your own babies such as susan smith also something needs to be done i can not believe these women that murder their own babies may someday be free while these little one have been lying in their graves i wonder how many years of life she took from these kids i dont know how her xhusband can stand to look at her i am angry too thanks for letting me share

Oh i hear ya, I wish that the death penalty was an option for her and I would have loved to be on the jury...I have 2 daughters and can't even begin to think how a mother could kill her kids...let alone 5 of them...and why the hell did she not kill herself? Grrrr...I am just as angry as you are...
