Change in your thought pattern is what is needed. We tend to be like a broken record in our thinking process, going around and around in the same old gloomy thoughts. To break out of it, some kind of change is needed. Learning how our psychology works is a beginning. Sometimes it may be something simple, like leaving the house and doing something out of the norm, or getting involved with others, or starting a new exercise program, anything that breaks the current pattern...

Colors and smells effect your environment a lot, and so also effect your mood. If you are gloomy, try rinsing your face with a minty or citrus smelling wash, and try to brighten things up a bit with yellows and or greens. Music also helps. Try to put some music on that at first matched your mood, then gradually put in more up beat kind of tunes. I usually start with something bluesy, then alternative, then contemporary, etc... Start slow, and work your way into a different frame of mind. Focus on what you are doing, not how you are feeling.

Start your bath, add bubble bath or your favorite bath beads. Get some candles put around the bathroom /light them. Make sure your bath pillow is on the back of the tub.
Turn out the regular lights in B/R. Climb into warm or hot steamy tub. Lay back and relax. Watch the candles flicker while thinking of good things to come. Relax and let your mind, heart and body just relax to a nice state. Stay in tub til you feel better. Then have a nice glass of warm milk/or what ever. Lay back on the bed with lots of pillows and drift off to sleep...Goodnight.

I usually take a nap and listen to music. Sometimes at the same time! Do something that makes you happy. There must be SOMETHING.
