Any information is appreciated. I remember finding some years ago in Oklahoma. It was laying on the top of the ground. Where did this come from? Is this a common area for it to be found?

Thank you for the answer, the reason that I don't believe it to be from a broker thermometer is that we at one time owned a farm in Ok. the mercury was found in the middle of nowhere, I don't think a broken thermometer would have been the case in this spot.

No. Probably from a broken thermometer. You have to heat an ore called cinnabar, corderoite or livingstonite.

Most of this has been depeted in the US so we get it from overseas.

on top of the ground is not a common place for it to be. For many many years Oklahoma had been drilling for oil and still are today. there is a mineral which carries Mercury and it has to be brought out of the ground it can not leech its way to the surface. some one must have left it behind whatever you do never touch the stuff it very dangerous and can cause death after prolonged exposure to it.

First, do not touch mercury with your bare hands.
Mercury is poison.
Use a small pointed shovel to pick it up, put it in a glass
jar with a cover (a mayonnaise jar will do) and take it to a
state or county agency.
They will be able to determine what it is.
If it is mercury they will see to its safe disposal.
Mercury was responsible for many deaths before it was
determined to be poisonous.
The ancient Chinese used to drink it as an intelligence potion
or a love potion, killing many persons over a long period.

I truly pray that you did not touch this mercury. It is extremely poisonous and could affect your health later in life. Mercury accumulates in your body and is not flushed out. Also, do not eat tuna as most of it has quite high levels of mercury too.

It came from the alien's space craft. They use it to help them create crop circles.
