Watched the world trade center collapsed in front of eyes on TV. There was this guy who got a chance to escape to a Chinese take-out place or something like that right before the world trade center collapsed. He had a video recorder and he taped how the dust and stuff rushing through the street for close to one whole minute as the towers collapsed.

That was the craziest and scariest thing I have ever seen. One of my coworkers lost two of his cousins on the tower that day. And also, one of the members in my church had a cousin that was on the plane that crashed in PA that day.

I was out fishing with a buddy on my boat, a little 18 footer. The motor mount broke, we had two ways back, way far away from shore around the kelp paddies or in close between the paddies and the surf. There was plenty of room, the sea was really calm. I let my buddy steer, he has had a lot more experience on the sea than me anyway. I was sitting in the bow just watching the coast go by. We were cruising past a cove when I heard my friend yell. Suddenly everything tilted, the ocean was coming up over the side and I was being thrown into it. I hit the water and something crashed into my head, the anchor. I came up under the capsized boat and managed to catch the rail and pull myself out from under. When I came up I was about 15 feet from the boat, dazed and my clothes were weighing me down. My buddy surfaced between me and the boat, grabbed me and pulled me to the boat. I couldn't see from one eye, the blood from the gash above it was blinding me. Turns out the area we were in had sets of several really big waves followed by smooth periods lasting 10 minutes or more. We entered at the end of the smooth period and got hit by a wave about 10 feet tall. We climbed onto the overturned hull, the anchor locked into some rocks and kept us from crashing into the shore, but it also held us in place as these huge waves were hitting us. A plane flew over and circled, some divers that were in the area swam over and helped get our lifejackets that were trapped under the boat. A lifeguard truck showed up and he surfed out to us at about the same time a lifeguard boat arrived. The guy with the surfboard ferried us to the boat. I still have a gnarly scar over my right eye. Every time I look in the mirror I am reminded of how lucky I am to be alive and how grateful I am for the help of strangers and the lifeguards.

i used to live in vegas, real ghetto part of town, and one night a man and his wife were screaming and yelling at each other through the night (I had my window open so I got all the good details) and when I got up the next morning and turned on the news, they were broadcasting live from their apt... The man had shot and killed the lady then himself. The cops were pulling bullets out of a car that was parked directly between my window and their apt.

Just the fact that I could've slept through that scared me.

My daughter was less then a year old and I heard a really loud bang. Some kids were fooling around with a gun in a field above us and had fired a gun. My daughter was sleeping in her crib and the bullet had went through the wall just above her head and lodged in the opposite wall.
