Many many businesses advertise on MySpace.com. It is a very effective (but expensive) way to advertise because MySpace gets so many hits per day from people all over the US. Only large companies should think about advertising though since it is national. If you are a small business wanting to advertise, maybe go for local TV. But then again I don't even know if your thinking about advertising, or if your just wondering.
If you want to advertise for free, you could possibly make a free profile and use that as your page. I think that violates the terms though. Not sure...

well, yes, people do advertise on myspace. u be the judge on how effective it is. just think about it. if u have heard of the magazine called j-14, they have a myspace to help get teens to buy their magazine. the movies coming out soon called john tucker must die and step up are advertised on the website. if u watch the commercials for these movies on tv, u will see that the website for the movie near the rating of the movie is myspace.com/"movie title". so it is very effective.

right now myspace is in its growing stage and I think people dont know yet how to tap the potential there is in advertising revenue. because myspace is free and has loads of traffic this may require some unique outside the box type ways to advertise without violating their terms of usage. there are other websites that also have high traffic and let you advertise for free..
