This year the race for the national title is wide open with no dominant teams out there like there was last year with USC and Texas being ranked #1 and #2 for virtually the entire season. Notre Dame or Ohio State will probably start out the season ranked #1, but I don't think the Irish have the athletes defensively to win all of their games, especially considering their schedule where they play Georgia Tech, Michigan, Penn State, UCLA, and of coorse USC. I think Ohio State will make it if they can get past their matchup with Texas and face West Virginia (assuming there are no other undefeated teams out there at the end of the season) since the Mountaineers play such a weak schedule and will start out the season highly ranked after there impressive performance against Georgia in their BCS bowl last season.

Actually there is no gurantee even if a team goes undefeated. A couple years ago Auburn was undefeated but didn't play as many games as others so they didn't get into the national chanmpionship bowl game to play USC. So anyways here's what I see happening next year. I think Texas goes undefeated again somehow pulling it off but they will have some nailbiters. I don't think USC goes back to the bowl game because they lost a bunch and I mean a bunch of key players to the NFL. I see Ohio State making a pretty good run this year, along with LSU. Florida State and Miami I don't think can make it because the ACC always has upset games every year, like UNC beat Miami and BC the first years that they come to the ACC. Notre Dame will also be pretty tough and they showed heart last year. And also watch out for Penn State they come close to going undefeated last year(11-1). So I think it is Texas and Penn State, in the bowl game this year. I see USC playing Ohio State for 2nd in the country.

USC vs. Ohio State
Easier schedules, good programs
I wish West Virginia would make it but they dont have the prestigious conference nor the media vote on it the way ranking works is like this:
Coaches poll: the highter the ranking the more precentage you get
Media poll: the higher your ranking the higher your precentage
Competition poll: the more prestigious or ranked teams you face, the higher this precentage will be
average them out, and you get your BCS precentage. the higher it is, the more chance you have of playing in the national championship. also, confrence winners sometimes go to preset bowls, not neccesarily the BCS championship

definite: If 2 of the relax undefeated communities lose and the two Alabama or Georgia win out, it may be complicated to think of a one loss SEC squad being omitted of the national Championship game.

USC and ND
even though ND will lose to USC in the season, they will match up again in the championship game.
