My 10 1/2 year daughter piped up today that she is going to be a Gothic vampire for Halloween. Never too early to start planning, huh? Is there a difference between a "vampire" and a "gothic vampire"?

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd speculate that a "Gothic Vampire" is a vampire with the Gothic look rather than being an old-school vampire with the long cape and slicked back hair.

Google "Gothic Vampire" and check out some of the sites that come up... might have you think twice before letting your daughter assume that persona even for one night.

THEY LIKE THE SO CALLED MYSTRY OF THE VAMPIRE. THEY LIKE TO STAND OUT FOR THE SHOCK VALUE. WEAR ALL BLACK. BLACK NAILPOLISH, DARK EYE MAKEUP SO THEY CAN LOOK LIKE THE LIVING DEAD. SOME, BUT NOT ALL GET INTO BLOOD LETTING. IN THIS DAY OF AGE NOT TO COOL. IF YOU'RE LUCKY, SHE WILL FIND ANOTHER FAD TO GET INTO. SOMETHING SAFER>

i'd imagine the difference is just how "gothy" the outfit accompanying the fangs would be! LOTS of black, velvet, draping fabric, etc.
