Is it because they came from a wealthier background than you or because they cost so much?
Is there something I'm missing about this whole Lawyer thing?

We are not 'supposed' to hate doctors & lawyers...
However, there are good doctors & not so good doctors...
Same is true of lawyers...
I had a cousin who was a doctor...an uncle who was a lawyer...they were both great people...really...the doc charged next to nothing...the lawyer, I don't know 'cause he worked for a corporation instead of individual cases...
However, I must say I have been treated both good & not so good by both...in fact I know two doctors who have saved my life...actually & really...I am sort of partial to doctors for that reason...but if I have a doctor who is not what I consider the best...I say goodbye (mentally) & go to one who is....
Actually three doctors have saved my life & I mean literally kept
me from dying....I forgot my own cousin when I was born & another one who saved my mother's life at the same time...in other words, we both almost died...in fact my cousin was getting ready to put me aside & pronounce me dead after all efforts to
get me to breathe failed...He said I was as black as the ace of spades (I'm White) when I finally took a breath & started to cry....
I'm sort of partial to good doctors...I even know two really good lawyers who did not do everything they did for money...I sorta like them too...(however, right now I am sort of aggravated with one...I'm not sure whether justifiably so or not???)...

I never thought of docs and lawyers as hated individuals. It depends on who you hire too. I will dislike any doctor or lawyer the overprices and doesn't do a good job. The ones that do a good job and price fairly aren't hated by anyone. I really don't think they ALL have the rep of being hated.

I wouldnt' say hate them, but be very suspicious.
American lawyers and doctors charge an excessive amount of money for their necessary services. For example a doctor in america charges $30,000-$75,000 for hip replacement surgery. If you were to go to India (taking in account the exchange rate) the same surgery by just as qualified doctors would only cost you $10,000. Sounds fishy to me.

Doctors and lawyers get plenty of status and money, but half the time they don't even know what they're doing. And we still have to pay exorbitant amounts when they make mistakes.

Lawyers, because they will do anything for money. Such as suing Mcdonalds for making cofee too hot, or defending a crazy mother who drowned five of her kids with a defense of her being insane, or letting a serial rapist go free do to a technicality.
I dont think people hate doctors though.
-remember lawers let Michael Jackson go free

Doctors keep wanting to tell you that something is wrong with you despite the millions of other things he has already told you that something was wrong with you.
Lawyers are...well lawyers.

this perception of doctors and lawyers is enforced by the media, by comedians, etc. I have had great experiences with doctors and lawyers who have helped me very much.

People don't respect other people if they take advantage of a bad situation, or create a bad situation for others while being compensated with large amounts of money.

Lawyers and doctors are much needed in this society. We shouldn't hate them. Somebody has to take care of us when we're sick, and someone has to take care of our legal problems. When these things happen to us, we'd better be ready to pay for their expert service. Let's not hate, but be prepared.

they people who do hate doctors and lawyers r just jelous cuz they make more money. i cant hate lawyers cuz my friends dad is one and my mom worked for 3 diffrent lawyers and they were all nice to me. i cant hate doctors cuz... well i dont know why. i guess i can hate them if i wanted to but i dont want to so i dont hate them.
