You need to "Unbrand" your version of Internet Explorer.

This page has a good explanation, as well as a nifty Visual Basic script to do it for you (otherwise you would need to remove it manually in the Registry)

The easy answer is switch to another browser, like Mozilla Firefox.

You might also try to download a new version of Internet Explorer, like a beta of the next version. That might work.

You could also try to right click in the toolbar of your current IE and see if there is a bar listed named Cox or something. If it is checked, uncheck it.

You will need to tweak the windows registery to do this! There are a couple of programs available to do this, I usually just regedit. There is an evaluation version of tweak manager that should work to do it. if you are comfortable with regedit the key is
current_user\
software\
Microsoft\
internet explorer\
main\
window title

you have to change your default page - Open IE Properties (right click on the IE icon) and under the general tab you can type in your new default home page like www.yahoo.com then save it or apply it.
