How can the White race claim to be superior to other races when it is acts so arbitrarily bigoted?

First, I AM WHITE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WHITE. AND I DO NOT REALLY HAVE ANY BLACK FRIENDS. (That was big for emphasis). Almost 100% of my 40,000 resident town is White.

The White race always claims to be the superior race when it enslaved another group of human beings (the Africans) solely on the basis that they had more pigment in their skin and were therefore inferior. How ridiculous and arbitrary and bigoted is that? Whites will always talk about how WE have had more accomplishments that blacks etc. But isn't it the Black people that overcame slavery and oppression and European colonization of Africa and still prosper today?? And us Whites pretend like we have done so much more when life has been a cakewalk for us! (as a whole race) When has the White race ever had to overcome diversity as a whole race? NEVER!! (Note: I know that a lot of Jews are white and did suffer immensely in the Holocaust, but I mean as a complete race)

Does anyone agree with me here?

Someone actually set out an argument for the white race being superior in another question which is why I'm responding with my own.

And I'm not pretending that this the only cause or evidence of racism, I'm merely asking if anyone agrees with me on the arbitrarity of enslaving a group of human beings (SAME RACE) merely because of skin pigment.

You know, you make a good point. However, if we take things out of our own perspective maybe we can see how these guys get this way.

Let's look at the early colonists in the Americas. These guys were in a foreign land, with foreign diseases, foods, people, customs, etc. Were they afraid? Most of the time, yes. What did they do? They were afraid of the dark. They kind of lived an existence like portrayed in the movie The Village. (Great movie, by the way.)

So, who was the enemy? The forest. What did they do? They cut it down. They attacked the forest. Really. Because beasts and Indians and disease and the Bogey Man live there, so we'll take away their home. It didn't hurt that they could profit by destroying the forests.

As far as race issues, it was kind of the same. From their perspective, what were they? A God-honored people with the Bible. What about these godless heathens? Must be some form of animal. Were they scared? You bet. If the heathens weren't wrong, they couldn't be right. So what did they do? Enslave them (it happens to be more profitable and also happens to help alleviate another fear of theirs--starvation). It didn't hurt that they profited by the practice as well.

Was it a small thing to do? Absolutely. Did the white man suffer for it? Absolutely. Look at all the enlightened people who died in obscurity because they were hiding from their own reality and died in a darkness of their minds.

This isn't to justify the act, but hey, the whiteman (or any man) always suffers from their own ignorance and poor choices. We cannot escape the law of consequences.

We can look at the Dark Ages when superstitions ruled the day. These guys lost what enlightenment they had generations earlier, and were ravaged by things like plague stemming from their own unsanitary conditions.

So, you make a good point. Maybe from different perspectives we can see a part of why.

I think that a lot of people do ignore the troubles of other races and just blame a race's problems on some sort of defect on the people within the race as a whole, but fail to recognize the factors in society that set the race back.
I was fortunate enough to grow up with a good school system even though I had to struggle to gain my racial identity because I did not grow up around that many other black people and that is something that most white people don't have to worry about since they are the majority race.
I go to help other black people that are in bad situations and the kids are VERY intelligent and gifted even more than I am in areas such as math and English, but they do not grow up in good school systems because their family has been stuck in a cycle of being unable to get out of generational curses that began in slave times.
I think that racism still does exist because people do not understand what other races have to go through, lack of good expectations, and pessimistic attitudes within the races.
This goes for all races.

Also, someone said that black people created their own bind by selling themselves into slavery? This did happen a lot, but there were also a lot of people that were free in Africa and put into slavery by being abducted. Just because other Africans sold slaves does not change this crime and vice versa.
Judging from other answers you can also see how easily people's perceptions are based on the media. Even though the black race has come far you cannot deny the wrongness presented during hurricane Katrina when they said that the black "refugees" were looting while the white survivors where just trying to live. Now some people might have been looting, but the fact that the media would choose to portray blacks in this manner shows that even though the laws have changed many people's perceptions haven't.

If people could stop seeing the world through rose colored glasses then more could get done about this issue- again for all races.

If you get your facts straight it would be easier. "Whites" did not enslave people just cause the color of their skin. White people were used as slaves for many a time before America and many other races too(ancient history). Africans were just not governed in the same way, there was nobody that could stop "whites" from doing what they wanted, so they did. That's the way the world works, "man" does what he wants till somebody stops him. And, if you wanna talk about race, well then lets get technical. There is actually more genetic diversity in a group( any group) of Chimps then there is in the whole human race. So there is no different races just one big one with small differences bio physically. Who's the bigot now.

You come from a predominantly White town. While there are lots of towns like this, big cities are very mixed. I'm not White, but haven't really experienced much racism in my life, knock on wood. (knocks on head) I work with a lady who's parents came here from Germany. Many years ago, she had an Arab boyfriend. She's now married to a Salvadorian man and is very happy. She's in her late 50s, an age where one tends to find more racism in Whites (not in all), and she hasn't a single racist bone in her body. Lol, this is good, because practically the entire floor where we work consists of people of color.

Perhaps your view is cultivated from the standpoint of a White person in a White town with lots of White bigots? In other places it's not so cut-and-dry. There is racism in all races, not just Caucasian.

To answer your initial question, race can claim superiority, so no, the White race can't claim superiority. Isn't it funny, Hitler promulgated the idea of a Master Race, those with fair skin, light eyes, and blonde hair, yet he only possessed one of these characteristics. He wasn't even a member of his own Master Race! He must have been the Master Bullsh*tter of All Time, lol!

Oh shut up....you're white...what is your heritage...the Scots were enslaved, raped and murdered and had a bloody fight for freedom...
The Jews were slaves....look into history beyond African American slaves....you talk about Whites having more accomplishments than blacks!!! I proudly worked for a BLACK man that geniously ran the Intercontinental Telecommunications market for a Highly recognized company....he ran it well....and he had 6 kids that followed his path and are all running thriving businesess through pure skill and hard work... Imagine that from 7 black folk....no....they are great people that I am glad God let me know in my lifetime....

We're in a time now where people are the most willing to look beyond the past and try to make steps towards the future...yes, whites....yes, blacks.....if you look an inch past your nose you'll see this....I don't give a damn what you think government is doing....just look around at human relations....open your eyes and don't ask questions that try to keep people slumming in the past.....

The only person to publicly make that statement about whites being the superior race that I know of, was Adolph Hitler. I'm sure there are others, but he would have to be the best known of these kind of kooks. I see no purpose in apologizing for things that happened long before my time. We are only accountable for what we have control of now, and in the future.

It is not too difficult to believe that today still, the majority of white folks haven’t learned much ever since their biblical tribal group dropped them off here. Well…here are few signs and I am not asking you to comment…this is just for thought.

Yes, the fact that Africans enslaved themselves was a pretty dumb move, but wasn’t it even dumber to believe that it was OK to go into a foreign land, purchase a group of people, tie them up, pack them all up in a ship as if they were some wild animals, and then ship them to a continent they knew very little about, and have them work the farms, and fields for the white man and white women, and then a few decades little pretend the whole thing never ever happened… Yes in times of slavery, MOST white men in the US were well known for pulling brainless acts of rape, torture, killings, lynchings, and the list goes on.….and then pretend it never happened. – Sign of greed, Jealousy & Hate don’t you think.

Especially that of black and Hispanic descent, despite the fact that you’re well dressed & earning much more than they are- signs of Insecurity & Inferiority!

They’ve tried all they can to keep all relevant historica information out of kids reach. For example, the effects of slavery have been ignored entirely and has never been taught in history classes. – signs of Fear & Retaliation!

Successful and intelligent black people in this country simply have to work twice as hard in obtaining the same job, pay and financial status as their white counterparts. What white Americans have always lacked is a sophisticated cultural identity. So they must hate on the other global countries for this reason. Because they have nothing to associate their past too, other than the effects of “building this country” …But wait a minute, building what country?? White folks were so damn lazy back in the day, they had to rely on slavery to initiate agricultural work and other types of extensive labor.

Despite, the many things that has happened to this country, my Haitian Ancestors where strong, and I admire them immensely for that. …especially for kicking the French’s ***! Especially, considering how “hyped up” and “Supremely powerful” the French were. And I’am sure if the Americans had tried to enslave us in our own country, We would most definitely join a sword in their *** as well. Like the famous Haitian leader Jean Jacque Dessalines once said, “He’ll cut the head off of any European who landed on Haitian shores.”


Believe me, there Are Good white folks, and perhaps most of them are the younger ones, who have proven to be much more intelligent, open minded and refined than their parents. However, by no means… black folks will never accept an apology for all the evil and satanic things that White people have done to people of African descent, because we simply know because of your little egos, you all do not have to balls to move forward with an apology and admit to your weak and low-morale errors…and it really wouldn’t make any difference anyway, so we’ll just have to leave it up to God to handle those white folks who are twisted and mentally deranged in the head.

those africans you mention that whites enslaved,WRONG it was other waring african tribes that conquered them, enslaved them and sold them off into slavery to both black and white masters. which was a legal bussiness back then why do you not mention this fact? why are you just bashing white people , the germans and japanese both used slave labor during ww2 why no mention of that, also why are extra points given to people of color on cival service tests when we are all created equal. you sir have a lot to learn. your biasness shows how ignorant you are

Im wight an i have to say that i agree with you 100%.Most of my friends or any thing but white(black,indian,and mexican).But that is besides the point most whight people think their race is so great and that they are better than others even though they are not because GOD made all of us and who ever said GOD was White!!!!!!!!He could be any color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
