If you're a masochist and you are a Christian does that mean you should follow the Golden Rule? Do unto others as you would have them do to you?

"As you would have them do unto you" is just a mental guideline for being nice to other people. Instead of trying to analyze them and determine whether your action is nice to them or not, simply put yourself in their shoes and see if *you* would think it's nice.

So, even if you're a masochist, so long as they're not, you shouldn't blindly follow the Golden Rule but instead understand its spirit.

most of the people that quote that rule often are usually the type to actually live by this rule:

"do unto other as they'd do to you, just make sure you do it FIRST"
