If they are chords of a circle and they are parallel, does it mean that they are congruent?

Parallel chords are only congruent if the closest point on each one were the exact same distance from the centre as the other.

Try drawing it. Draw a big enough circle to fit your ruler in nicely. Place your ruler in there anywhere so that each side is within the circle. Hold the ruler there and draw a straight line down each side, you'll have two parallel lines, but unless you're extremely lucky, they won't be equal lengths.

Therefore, to answer your question, no. If two chords are parallel, it cannnot be assumed that they are congruent.

The only case when they would be congruent is if they are on different sides of the circle (up and down from the center) at precisely the same distance away from it. Otherwise, two chords in a circle being parallel does not equal them being congruent.

congruency refers to two or more objects having the same physical properties (i.e. shape, size, texture, etc.). the chords of a circle are not necessarily congruent. you'd have to measure their length to answer your question.

Congruency means that the objects have the same size and shape.. if the parallel lines are the same length and width, yes they would be.. otherwise no.

Yes they are!
If they are equal to each other then they are congruent.

No, they are not because they touch the edges of the circle at different distances and angles.
