Yes, I do. I don't care if she is crazy or whatever reason she murdered her children. I would never want her out on the streets again. How in the hell her husband has stayed by her, I will never know. That whole thing is just plain sick.
I think all murderers, rapists and child abuser should not even have a trial or an attorney. They should be shot or castrated, either or both in the middle of the city where the crime was committed. Think of all the billions and billions of dollars that could go to a place where it is needed. WHY do we support these animals? NONE of them should be out of a cage so just shoot them.
We spend more to keep criminals in jail than some of povery stricken people live on. Wouldn't you say there is something wrong with this picture?

No.But I do think her Husband should be on trial with her since it was both of their decisions to have another child. They were both told that if they had another child ,that she(Andrea)would almost certainly have a Psycotic break because of the changes caused by pregnancy. They both made this decision. They both KNEW what would happen just not how.In this case the death penalty is the easy way out.Let her think about it for the next 50 years.I think he should be in there with her though.

I think Andrea Yates needs to spend the rest of her pathetic life behind bars. Being put to death is the easy way out.

The only person who should go to prison for the deaths of those children would be Rusty Yates, Andrea's husband. He knowingly left those children alone with someone who was clearly incapable of caring for them.
In my opinion, the not guilty by reason of insanity verdict is the correct verdict. Andrea Yates has had a long history of psychosis and other mental problems. It's not as if she just suddenly "snapped" one day and decided to kill her children.
Now that this verdict is in, hopefully she can get the help she should have gotten all along. It's a tragedy that it took the deaths of those 5 innocent lives in order for her to get correct medical treatment.
She had shown signs before the day she killed the children, yet those around her chose to ignore or minimize her problems. When her brother told Rusty (Andrea's idiot husband) that he was concerned about Andrea, Rusty said that Andrea just needed to pull herself up by her beltstraps and do better.
For someone with mental illness, you cannot just "pull yourself up" and be better. It takes medication and possible therapy.
Rusty refused to allow Andrea to get the help she needed. He wanted to live in a converted school bus instead of in a house, even though they had 5 children! He insisted that they follow the teachings of a cult leader who had very strange ideas about the world.
Andrea showed many signs of injuring herseIf and the children before the day she killed the kids. Rusty ignored those signs, and refused to put her on medication. She had a mental illness and couldn't take care of herself. As her husband, HE HAD AN OBLIGATION TO GET HELP FOR HER IF SHE WAS INCAPABLE OF GETTING THAT HELP!
I think Rusty Yates should be prosecuted for child endangerment since he left his children alone with a woman who obviously was unable to care for them. He's more guilty than Andrea.

Every single person's life is worth something and every person should be given the chance to make something of his or her life until the natural conclusion of that life. Whether I personally judge Ms. Yates for her actions, I still have no authority to pass judgement and therefore I only wish to see her suffer no further than to the end that she might truly repent of her actions.
I'd rather have my tax dollars allocated to the imprisonment of convicted murderers than to the prosecution and confinement of pot smokers.

No one deserves the death penalty. "An eye for and eye" will leave us all blind and "a tooth for a tooth" will leave us all toothless.
The death penalty is petty and actually costs us tax payers more money than just leaving the pathetic slobs in jail for the rest of their miserable lives.

I believe she had post pardum psychosis. If my two kids can drive me nuts on a normal day, I simply can not imagine having such an incapacitating mental illness and 5 kids to take care of!!! It's just sad. Some things happen in this world that are just plain sad for eveyone involved!

No. I think she's very messed up. The horror of knowing that you murdered your own children and living with that every day is far worst than facing the death penalty.

One part of me says "yes" kill the "B" another says; I do not understand. She has to be crazy. How does a mother kill her 5 babies? I am so sorry this tragic thing ever happened...
She took her own children's life? She carried each one for nine months, she gave birrth to everyone of those babies. "I" view death as an easy out....I think she should rot in hell, in a prison....let her be used..."butte abused" or any other way. She condemned herself...."we" certainly did not.
It's not off with her head;..it's let her live; be mauled, abused, treated as a child killer...let her feel the rath of others...sometimes? "SOMETIMES" there is honor amoungst thieves.

Personally yes, but legally her insanity prevents her from being executed or even convicted, so such an objective will never be achieved
However, she will be spending the majority (if not all) of the rest of her life in a mental facility seeking help for her illness
