INDEED, a person can live without a colon. The colon is just your large intestines. Most of the nutrients are absorbed before the chyme (digested food) reaches the colon. Nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine.
Food goes from MOUTH to ESOPHAGUS to STOMACH to SMALL INTESTINE to LARGE INTESTINE to ANUS (end of colon).
The colon is mainly for reabsorbing water and therefore solidifying the fecal matter.
Without a colon, you will just be visiting the toilet more often and your stool will always be of soft consistency, maybe like diarrhea.

No, the colon's purpose is to absorb all the water and nutrients into the body, and without it, there would be no water in the body or nutrients.

if you develop colon cancer, you can have some of it removed, but i dont think you can remove the whole colon.

Yes they can... It is possible to do a colectomy-total... and reattach your small bowel instead. There are problems, but it is possible.. especially for someone with Ulcerative Colitis.

Yes you can but you would need to have a colonostomy bag because you couldnt controll your bowl movements.

I don't think you could live without one, you could prolly live with a shorter than normal one though
