Well I don't know if you call it romantic or not, but we filled our bath tub with jelled lime gelatin and sat in it with candles all around. It was something he wanted to do, we were young and newly married. It was fun ! The lights were dim, and we had wine, to drink. That was 20+ years ago. My husband liked it !

I think I win.

I got really good dinner reservations and put the time on the card from the restaurant, wrote a love letter and then put them all in a washed out wine bottle and corked it up. I took the bottle down the beach and stashed it in the rocks, near a nice sunbathing spot, but far enough from the water that high tide wouldn't take it away.

Next day I took my girl down there and we 'happened' to stumble on the bottle. I let her open it and discover everything inside. She was thrilled!

It was my husband that did it for me. This is a guy that never brought me roses or is even romantic.
He rang me one day and asked me to get my mother to watch our 2 toddlers for the night. Told me to be ready at 5 pm in my best dress and pack an overnight case for us both.
I thought great a night off.
A little suspicious but really didn't care, I organised the kids and then got dressed for the night. He arrived in a limousine, stepped out in style with my favourite roses, and asked me out for dinner.
I was dumbfounded.
We left in the limo drinking champagne.
We arrived at the airport, I was stunned. We got into a helicopter and flew around the city at sunset.
We then landed in a country town and a car was waiting for us to take us to our next destination. I was like wow. All he did was smile his beautiful smile at me.
We went to the lushest meadow with so many wild flowers. It was almost dark but the view was breathtaking.
We had a great picnic dinner. We sat there for ages talking like 2 teenagers all over again.
After that we went to a bed and breakfast for the night. It was so beautiful and spectacular.
The next day we drove home in a car he hired.
On the way home he said Happy 5th Anniversary and not to expect anything like that again. I said I'd never want anything ever again as it was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me or to us.
We have never done anything like it again.
Every now and again he brings me my favourite flowers and he reminds me of the time we had.
We were growing apart at the time and now 16 years on we are still happily married.
I once asked him why he did it and he said he wanted to share something with me that we would never forget.

The other night I was coming home from another late meeting at work and it was raining. My husband was walking down the hill towards the vehicle carrying an umbrella and he walked me back up the hill keeping me dry. I found it quite touching since we've been married 31 years.

I don't know if this is the most romantic thing. But my DH wears a uniform with a lot of pockets. One night while he was sleeping I put a little love note in each pocket. He just kept discovering them throughout the day.

Well,it could have been.I laughed,in spite of the ,"Date from He..,"
A couple of years ago I thought we could go on a date(been married for 28 yrs,almost)..that was about as romantic as I could think of,a date for us,that is.Well..We went out to eat.he drove in the wrong way(the exit and it was on a hill and everyone could see us from window)..first embarrassment..then he ordered a spicy thing and had the worst heartburn through-out meal..then he realized he forgot wallet..so I had to pay...went to get wine after(woops, forgot again, had to pay)..went home..no corkscrew..Never,never again..a romantic thing for spouse!!!

Kicked him out and divorced him. It was the best thing I ever did for either one of us, we are both much, much happier now. Been so happily divorced for 9 yrs.

Lately, I let him keep sleeping in my bed. Not much more than that, though.
