It didn't make much money at the box office; why should the company take the risk to make another that will tank?

Mystery Men 2

Regrettably, it didn't have enough mass appeal. I am very familiar with the comic book (Flaming Carrot), but even comic readers aren't that familiar with it. Mystery Men and Flaming Carrot are warped, surrealistic humor comic characters that satirize superheroes, and I think it would be great if a sequel were made, but I wouldn't hold my breath due to the reasons I stated. Come on, Paul Reubens as the flatulent Spleen?!? What's not to love? The creator of the Mystery Men and Flaming Carrot has stated he'd like to do a sequel, but, alas, it's up to the studios. I would say the first "blockbuster" sequel would probably be "From Russia With Love" (1963), the follow up to the highly successful "Dr. No" (1962). After searching for a while, I found a source that appears to back up my theory.

Basically, it was a goofy movie that didn't make a lot of money. I'm not sure why not; it was pretty stupid, and most stupid movies make a ton of money. Even Al Gore came out with his sequel to Waterworld. And it didn't even have Kevin Costner or the Exxon Valdez in it !

That was a great movie.

I suspect that it was abit of a sleeper. Maybe for the profits they made on the first one, they knew they couldn't pay the same actors for a sequel.

You found the movie cool?
Well, in that case at least it's got one die-hard fan.

The only and I mean ONLY sensible super hero movie I have seen till date is V for Vendetta.
