Only for a short while and only if they are both ready to mate. Otherwise, one will kill the other.

This is going to be a pretty long winded response to your question. Yes you can put a female betta with a male betta in the same tank (contrary to other's beliefs).

Get a 10-gallon tank for the bettas. First, place the male betta in the tank in order for the male to get use to a new territory. Later, place up to three females in the tank with the male. The reason why you need so many females is so that:

1. The male will become too agressive with just one female when time to spawn.

2. This also prevents the females from becoming aggressive with each other. If you have only two, one will be the bully resulting in the death of the other.

Only if you are planning on breeding them. And that takes A LOT of effort and days of pre-planning and the right conditions, and 3-4 days of special care after you’ve removed the female (who only stays in the tank just long enough to breed). Even if you do it right the female still has a pretty good chance of being killed. No matte how big the tank is, the male will seek out any other Betas, male or female, with the intent to kill. Unless you really know what you are doing it would just be cruel to do such a thing.

No you can't. Male of female makes no difference here. Betas are fighting fish and they WILL kill each other.

Sure if you don't like your bettas. Seriously in the wild bettas live in huge shallow rice paddies, and ponds. Males stake out their pwn little area. If another male comes along they fight and the loser leaves. If a female come along they fight or mate. After mating the male drives the female away and defends the nest. In a tank/bowl the loser can't get away, and it's pretty much a caged death match.

It would all depend on the size of the tank. If the tank is big enough and the female can hide and get away from the male - maybe.

If you want to breed them, then you have to condition them first.

If you just want to see mayhem, put them in together in a small space.

Yes, when the male is ready to mate. But they have to be separated after the mating because they will kill each other or he'll kill her. Breeding betas is very difficult. Because they were created by man not by God.

yes, you can do it, but you better put them in the different tank and let them seeing each other. If the male like the female, he will build bubble nest. It is the sign that the female can join the male.

Only if the male betta is ready to breed (he's blowing a bubble nest at the top of your tank) if not then dont' put them together they'll fight

No bettas will kill any other fish that is in the tank. They are fighting fish.
