Yea, don't lie we all know that most chomsky fans were introduced to him through shoutcast tv. But i must admit his approaches are very attractive since it is so rational.

He reads and studies, pays attention to life and wants to know things. This is a message I have tried to so hard to get across to my students over the years. In order to learn "stuff" you first must want to know itand then you must do what it takes to find it. I'll bet he doesn't watch much television or play video games either.

If you read any of his books, you'll see that every major point throughout the book is fully referenced at the back.

You'll find references for each chapter, usually, and also a full bibliography of additional works that are relevant to the book's topic.

So, his informed opinions are well grounded in the information he obtains from thousands of sources -- unlike a lot of people on Yahoo Answers who have opinions but little substance.

Chomsky's been around for many years also -- so he has a head start on probably everybody in this Yahoo forum.

As your previous answers have indicated, Chomsky is, simply, a brainbox. It's not for nothing that he was recently named as the world's top intellectual in one of these polls that go around (for what they're worth).

You might also be interested to know that those like me who study linguistics got to know Chomsky as a linguist and the proponent of transformational grammar, and only found out much later about all the political stuff: + for linguistics, - for politics.

If he's Jesus incarnate, then that means he's here to do battle with the anti-christ as his last act before armeggeddon.

So far Noam's done alright for himself, but it's hardly the epic blazing battle that this fight was hyped up to be.
