The people in the supermarket. What the hell is wrong with about 90% of them?
Parents, quit letting your kids zip around in those damn skate shoes. It's not a playground.
And get a clue: yes, prices of everything, especially meat, are high right now. But no, the person standing in front of you is not responsible for that.
Another hint: they are called samples, not lunch. If you're that hungry, go home and eat.
I work there. I am not your friend. I do not want to go out with you. I am only smiling because they force me to.
Do not stand there and tell me with a straight face that you do not shop at Walmart. I was in there the other day and saw you there. You did not see me because I saw you first and went the other way.
Don't get pissed at me because I don't speak your language and don't understand you when you butcher mine.
I'm done. And yes, there is a question.
What do people do to you at your job that pisses you off?

Come on, vent away.
And if you don't work, tell me what those of us who work at the supermarket do to piss you off.
Not that I'm going to reform, but I am curious.

LOLOLOLOL!
When on earth does "Have a nice day" translate into "I think you are hot and I want you"?
When I ask "How are you today", it's a rhetorical question, I do not need to hear how much you hate everything in life and your life sucks.
I am not in control of A- gas prices
B- the weather
C- whatever is making your life miserable at the moment. Don't take it out on me.
We work as fast as we can, if customers would co operate with us, we'd be able to get you all out in a more orderly fashion. We are smarter than you give us credit for, but we are not allowed to say so because "you are always right".
There, I feel better now,LOL!

Oooooh... ooooh... may I rant also?
As a former supermarket cashier, a couple of my beefs:
- When I would warn people that the organic watermelons were more expensive before weighing it (people choose them because they're "smaller"), I got, "yeah, yeah, sure, sure. Whatever." as a response; when I weighed it and rang up the outrageous price at like 4-6 bucks a pound, they would suddenly become indignant and demand I take it off their purchase... then get even MORE mad when I had to call a manager over to approve such a large deduction. What? They thought I didn't know what I was talking about?
- When people got peeved at me because I was the only cashier at closing time and they had to wait longer than expected... the store was NOT open 24 hours so what did they expect shopping late at night? Also the ones who would slip in right before the doors were locked and showed up at the counter when I was balancing the till.
Ah, memories...
But, MY beef with supermarket folk currently... a lot of them (not saying you, per se) do NOT know how to bag... 7 items in one bag, and 2 in the other? I place my frozen food and cold items on the conveyor belt so they'll get bagged together, which is rare. Oh yes, and don't put my cleaning supplies in the same bag as my fresh produce or meat... or any of my food! Or my cat food!
Maybe I'm being too cynical, but I worked the job, so I'm allowed to complain. ;)

I'm a receptionist at a doctor's office, and 70% of the people there are elderly.
I know it's not their fault, but some days it drives me nuts when I have to shout into the phone in a room full of patients.
When I call other doctor's offices and I either can't understand the too-fast-talking receptionist, or she sounds like it'll kill her to answer a damn phone. Sheesh.
Oh yeah, and when people think I'm too stupid to handle their question because I'm not a nurse. I do 90% of the paperwork in that damn office, your question is only going to end up on my desk anyway, get it through your head when I say "I can help you" that I FREAKING CAN!!!
And when people are rude to me because they're having a bad day. I am the most pleasant receptionist in the whole area and I work HARD to make sure you get everything you need first.
Ugh....I'm very stressed out at work lately, my boss doesn't like me and treats me like I'm a four year old, the doctor just fired his wife and hired his mistress, and she's determined to get me fired. I get less that 30 hours a week and my boss insists I take 1 hour lunches. I'm done eating in 15 and sure, I can futz around in the breakroom for another 15, but a friggin hour? What am I gonna do?!?!? Oh, and I can't quit because my fiancee is out of work right now. I'm not mad at him, he's battling depression. But why don't I get a freakin break, huh?!?!?
You said rant....

I don't do it anymore, but I was a cashier for 9 years. By the end of that time, I hated everyone. No exceptions. I couldn't smile no matter how hard I tried. You need to get out and do something else or that job will kill you.
The only thing people at the store do that really pisses me off is when they don't put all my bags in the cart and I don't notice till after I get home.

I must live in the wrong part of the country. I've never seen any little kids in skate shoes. Or a lot of the rude stuff you mention. The little old ladies in walkers can be sortof annoying, but I always figure ' I hope I can still do my own shopping when I'm THAT old !' And I've always been to shy to ask the help out. Of course, since I'm not Mennonite, I figure I haven't got a good chance, anyway.

everyone at my work bitches about everyone else to me, so now I just tell them " I'll go talk to them for you and see what they have to say." Usually after that they don't ***** to me anymore.
The worse is the company hires people and pays them more than others that have been there for years, it's not like they have more experience or anything. The people are usually incompetent idiots that cant even do simple math half the time.
It's not a complicated job!!! But what the hell makes them worth
more than other people. Even I was hired in at more money the others. It's wrong.

Kids are rebellious now.
High prices are due to stores not buying enough like Wal-Mart does. Wal-Mart buys tons so they can charge cheap prices.
My best friend got a free cookie at Wal-Mart when there wasn't much at home. Besides, I see food begin to rot in those plastic dishes at Kroger. Somebody might as well eat that stuff, cause I won't.
Tons of people just chat in line with cashiers and cashiers actually keep customers there because they're so bored. I had a cashier try to keep me for a while. Boring!
Should I not shop at Wal-Mart? Every other store is a rip-off.......except Target. Their clearance prices beat anyone elses!
Hillbilly seems like another language.
I just hate people that chat at a checkout when other customers need through.

surprisingly i dont find anything that supermarket workers do pisses me off. but as an employee at safeway. the people do complain too much about the prices. actng as if its the people who work there are setting the prices up on purpose. and those skate shoes are annoying, if yo're not allowed to roller skate or skateboard or bike in a store i think parents should be more aware of letting their kids roll around the isles. dangerous to the kids, the workers and to other costumers.

I totally agree. I work in a pharmacy. What pisses me off is: I dont want to hear all about your simple illness for 1 hour or more (I do have a job to do) or infections or how many times you went or did not go to the bathroom or even the shape or color of it, or how the drug companys are ripping people off. I dont want to argue with you when you ask a medical question and I give my answer and you try to change my mind. I dont want you to give me dirty looks because it took me more than 5 minutes to fill your RX when I have 50 people ahead of you. I get tired of calling for your refills from doctors when you can do it just as easily. I do not like being manipulated or lied to because you want me to give you controlled substances (it doesn't work and I have heard all the stories before) It is not my fault your insurance sucks! I do not control the co-pays or what type of drug your insurance will cover. I do not like being called nasty names or insulted just because you are feeling ill or cannot get the drugs you are seeking or do not want to pay the dollar amount for them. i could go on and on but I think this is enough

Okay, I worked for five years at a grocery store as a cashier and there are a few things I'd like to say.
Yes, I know the prices are high, and it's not my fault.
I'm sorry you grabbed some moldy cheese but I didn't put it there.
to the old ugly weirdo-- quit hitting on our young ladies or you won't be allowed in the store anymore.
Also to old ugly weirdo-- Of course you got arrested. You were told never to come into the store and hit on Sarah.
To "Evelyn"-- Please don't stand in front of the ATM and pee your pants. We have to clean it up.
To "Crazy Lady" (AKA Nazi Lady) Of course I make mistakes on your bill when I ring you up. You make me nervous, so I screw up. Then you think it's funny. You make everyone nervous, everyone you've yelled at for teeny things like putting a flyer in your bag, or wishing you a nice day.
To "Angry Jewish Guy" It's not my personal fault that the sale items don't ring up the same price as the ads. Go see the lady who puts the prices in the computer. We are not trying to scam you. It's human error.
To the guy who is obviously buying beer for a kid who gave him a hundred-dollar bill in my plain sight-- That's what we look for. Don't threaten me because I'm doing my job. I'd rather lose a sale and a customer than get hauled off in handcuffs, arrested, fired, pay a fine, and go to jail. It has happened in here before. Why do you think Alan's not here anymore?
I could go on but at the moment I can't think of anymore.
