Yes, I got into a really bad accident on my back to college two years ago. I was alone in the car and totally at the mercy of the other motorists. They saw to my needs and got me to a hospital.

Yes, I got in a car accident late at night in a quiet neighborhood (drunk driver crashed into me). This was before cell phones, so I just started walking up the nearest driveway, and was going to ask to use the phone, but before I could get there, the lady came out to help me while her husband called 911. I thought that was so sweet. I was pretty dazed, so I don't remember everything, but I remember her checking my ears for blood, which I thought at the time was strange. Someone explained to me later that since I'd been banged on the head, it was a good thing to check for.
Anyway, all I really remember is that I needed help, and these people were so concerned, caring, and helpful.
You know, I think most people are actually like that. It's sad that the bad examples are the ones who usually get remembered.

There were 6 of us packed into a car on our way to a Hoyt Axton concert in Lake Tahoe. We broke down. It was the middle of winter. We were determined to make it to the concert so stuck out our thumbs hoping a few cars would stop to give us all rides. Instead, someone came along in an old hearse, room for us all, took us to the concert and then came back after and picked us up and took us back to Truckee. That was one kind stranger.

Now I member of AAA. in case you recommend the former ones and under no circumstances that stupid action picture with Will Ferrell then I take Land of the misplaced -- watch everyday as a cub. Yes. In the most dangerous reserve in Canada. Twice..
I locked my keys, wallet and cell phone in my car and had to walk a few kilometers to where the other social workers were. And even then, my office was out of the reserve. I thought I could just use their phone.People just laughed when they saw me walking on their worn paths. They were very friendly and kind. I just smiled at everyone. Phones are very rare there, but people directed me to where someone lived who had a phone. And this person let me in to use it.
The other time i was in the same area when my car was high centered in the snow. It took 10 Natives to help me push it out. But they offered and were very kind. I wish I had cash on me to give them. They took me into their homes while I was waiting for my husband and gave me tea and told me stories. The men kept their eyes on my car for me from the windows. Although I know that these people are generally down to earth and kind, it was wonderful to experience it first hand.

I was with my sister and we went out to have a sister's night out. Well she wanted to go to the bar where her boyfriend was and so we packed up and went. Her boy friend had been friendly with another female that was there. This was before we got there. Well long story short. The boy friend had cheated on her and they made up but I wasnt about to have him ride with me, even though she was the driver. So she left me at the bar, and I couldnt reach my husband. I had to have a stranger bring me home. What a scary night.

I was alone in Munich, Germany . There was a convention in town and I could not find a room. I was young and very afraid.
Got to talking to two natives in a restaurant and the next thing I knew I was their guest at their home.
When my room was available the next day, they insisted I stay with them. They gave a quite a tour. Spent a week with them and had a WONDERFUL time.

Yes, a few weeks ago with my husband and son at a resort in Mexico. Our credit card was declined. Strangers offered to lend us the money. They saved the day!

Yes, more than once (due to my travels)
and I must be the luckiest person in the world
as they helped every which way they could.
Once, in the middle of the jungle in Nepal....
Truly scary, but machetes and all, they helped.
On all occasions I said to myself, go with God,
go with Dignity, and alas, I'm home...
