NO! Praise God! it's a horrific practice and quite painful for the one who is bound! Can you imagine not allowing the bones in your feet to grow? ow!
There's a great old movie that shows the slowing of that awful practice called "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness".

My mother worked for a woman who was born to a missionary family in China and lived there to age 16. Her house was like a museum. She actually had a wedding slipper meant for a bound foot. It looked like a silk "Cabbage Patch Doll" shoe. I could barley fit my fist inside. The practice is outlawed but I bet it still probably happens underground in rural areas. At least the oppressive Chinese government is good for something. I am pretty sure they don't allow the tradition to continue.

no foot binding has stopped i dont remember the year but it is not practived any more.

it's now considered illegal there but there are people ( not many) that still do it and it's one of the few crimes that aren't inforced it was only outlawed to make humanitarian groups happy...
