I think Ganguly is concentrating to open the way to get into the side rather than improving his standards.
I can say this by the following reason. Ganguly got against Dalmiya as powar, the president of BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India), is against him. I think that Ganguly turned against Dalmiya in the reason that Powar would think that Ganguly too is against him and they both can unite then he could get the place in the side with out any effort.
Ganguly should concentrate on his batting rather than these type of issues. That's why he is not able to do well in that level also. He should work hard and should remember how well he played in the past. He is the second highest century maker in ODI's.
He should stop all these issues and concentrate in his batting if possible in bowling also.

Well Kapil Dev gave us biggest overseas victory ever, that was winning World Cup 1983, that victory even inspired the teenage Sachin to pick the bat, I wasn't even in existence then but old people still have thrilling radio commentary memories in their mind. It was victory of World Cup 1983 which turned India into the cricket crazy India, and his performance with both, bat and bowl was amazing. The difference between minnow Indian team and Competitive Indian team - was Kapil Dev- a great all rounder and captain. Stopping the invincible two WC winning West Indies team in Lords as an underdog should be considered as India's best ever overseas efforts.

Originally, Ganguly was out of the team because of indiscipline. At present he has become mellowed a bit. I think, Ganguly keeps two options open. If he fares well in England, he expects he would be in the team. Otherwise, he will join active politics. The ruling party in WB has done a lot for him ( giving away a large piece of land worth of a few crores for his academy, granting him a license for his bar-***-restaurant, flouting all norms). Now it is time for Ganguly to reciprocate.

looking at those numbers i think if ganguly is selected for WC then his best score would be 0 and least score would also be 0.
