Crystal Report experience is one of those skills that I consider "complimentary" and not the core skill that is looked for when hiring a person. It's useful experience and helps the resume (CV) ... but you should keep up your core programming skills as well. Try using your programming experience to advance the integration of Crystal Reports into a customized reporting tool. The people you work for may not have the vision to understand how these tools can be used in combination to create an comprehensive reporting system. Good luck!

Yes, it is important because it makes you important to the managers- the ones who view the reports. You will get your requirements from the higher up, which gives you inside to their jobs and what their needs are.

If you want to go far in any company, it is important to know the business logic as well as the technical needs of the projects.

Computer languages and tool change all the time. For example, 40 yrs ago COBOL was the "in" , 90's c++, 2000's web programming.

However, buisness fundamentals don't change. If you understand the business of the company, you will be able to apply the computer tools and languages given.
