It's easier to look outwards and point fingers, than to look inwards and realize we're not perfect. You may see someone's mistake and have no emotional response. You have to break through your pride and ego to admit to your own mistakes. Analyzing and criticizing someone else is so much easier than admitting to yourself that you're not so perfect after all.

Any person has to be right. Its a way of justifying there existence. For example a girl can keep falling in love with guys that aren't worth a crap. These choices are made by the girl but the girl is always the victim because of how the crappy guys treat her. More often than not the girl never takes a look inward to see why she keeps picking these abusive, no job having crappy guys. I'm pretty sure the same girl has a lot of advice to give when her friends are doing the same thing but never applies it to herself. Men do the same thing. This also applies to making any choice. When a tough decision comes around some one may make the wrong choice. When this is pointed out the person will excuse it some way. Like "you just didn't understand the circumstances" or "It was the only choice I could make at that particular time". The whole world can see the person was wrong but in his mind he/she did the best they could which is their mind is still right in some way. As you can tell this answer is right. Because in my mind I have to be right. Even if i don't get best answer its because you picked the wrong one. I'm not being facetious but, do you see my point?

Every finger we point at someone else there are always 3 pointing back at you. Like so many before me have mentioned we see character defects or other's making same mistakes we do and so are able to find their faults so easily.

Think about it. If you're sitting at a dinner table, and the person across from you wipes sauce from his face with a napkin but he misses a spot, who is most likely to notice. Him or you?

Because it's easier to look into someone elses eyes- than our own (& many of us don't like to look at our reflection in the mirror...).

Probably because they do not want to admit their own faults. I myself have done that before. For some people, they would rather nitpick other peoples problems rather than admitting that they have problems.

I know that what you are doing is wrong.
I, on the other hand, a paragon of virtue and righteousness, know that my course of action is always correct and without flaw.
