The more you use the body part that the shot was administered in the less sore it will be. Don't sit and baby the injection site. The medication needs to be worked thru the muscle to eliminate the pain. For immediate relief try warm compresses, a warm soak in a tub and/or Tylenol following the package insturctions.

move the arm/leg where the injection was given - this will loosen up some of that tightness. You can also use warm moist compresses and take some ibuprofen to relieve some of the pain. Usually the soreness lasts 24-48 hours, if it's severe or you notice abnormal swelling or redness at the injection site, return to your doctor as it could be an infection.

If it was in the hip then walk around some. If it was the arm move your arm around. Inactivity of the area will make it last longer. Get your bodies natural pain killers flowing by moving around. Also Tylenol and Ice may help.

it is recommend that when you get shots you need to rub the spot and help spread the medicine in your arm, it will hurt a little but it will make you feel better and alternate hot and cold compresses

Put ice in a paper towel and hold it on the area of the shot. That should help.

Tylenol, Ice. warm compress....or any combination of those.
However, if it gets red, swollen, or hurts A LOT, its time to call the doctor.

I would ice down your arm, but rub it as well to disperse the shot in to your muscles.
You can always take some antiinflammatories.....but consult your doc first.
