I asked the other night, I am having severe severe pain in my left ovary and I went to the ER they did nothing but a urine test to check for preg and urniary tract infection, said it was a cyst wrote prescribtion for darvocets. I am in worse pain now, going to GYN/OB on Tuesday, that is as soon as I could get in. I am calling the regular doctor tomorrow to see if she can do an ultrasound or something, I have never hurt like this. I am 4 days late, running fever, nausea, diaherra, and in severe pain. Has anyone had a cystic to burst and was it like this or signs of ovarian cancer? My last pap done in June showed pre-cancer on the cervix and HPV

I hope you had the pre-cancer taken off as well as got the HPV treated. If not, I don't think it is unreasonable to address these issues at this time.
I have had cysts burst. But a fever... usually does not accompany the bursting of the cysts. I do get diarrhea and severe pain from the intestinal and abdominal irriatation. Sometimes the ER's are wrong about what is going on. Also, If you are having problems with the Left Lower Side, then you could possibly have diverticulosis/diverticulitis...
That would cause similiar symptoms.
You may want to ask for an Abdominal U/S to rule this out. If you still have pain.. go in to a different ER, or make an appt with your family doc.

I don't want to alarm you in any way, but I think you need to go back to the ER and insist they do more tests.
The fact that you are late with your period makes me worry about a tubular pregnancy, which can be quite an emergency, and requires prompt surgical intervention. A urine test will often not show a tubular pregnancy because the egg has not made it to the uterus, so the hormones that come with a normal pregnancy are not present.
My mom had several, and she has told me all about them, and your symptoms sound a lot like hers. I know Tuesday is not far away, but things could get a lot worse without intervention. Naturally, they could just stay the same, but if it were my body, I don't know that I would risk it.
As for cancer, if they did the Pap in June, did they mention that you need to be retested in about six weeks from the last abnormal test? I doubt very much that this is cancer, as it usually does not present as an acute pain, at least not in the early stages.
As for a cyst bursting, I only know what I have heard from friends. I have had two that have had that, and they both had severe bleeding, as well as pussy (pus-like) discharge, which you do not mention.
I will be thinking of you, and hoping everything turns out for the best, and that you are well.

I don't know how old you are, or if you are sexual active, but I think you should return to the ER. If it is a real hospital, fully functionable, they should be doing an Ultrasound as soon as possible to see if you have an tubal pregnancy. That is where you are pregnant, but the egg has not moved into the uterus and is still in the fallopian tube. This will rupture the fallopian tube as it grows. Pregnancy tests, especially urine ones, often give a negative reading when it is a positive tubal pregnancy.
I would highly suggest going back to an ER that has a full service. You might call your GYN tonight and let them know how bad you are hurting. Even tho the office is closed, you can always have them call the doctor on call that is covering the practice. Tell them straight up how bad it hurts and that you are 4 days late, etc.
It is often easier to get help after hours than trying to get through the office staff during the day.

I had this happen, ended up that a cyst had ruptured. I was on the floor crying in pain. By the time they did the ultra sound they could just see two other small functional cysts. They kept me on the pill for awhile, and since I have gone off them the pain comes back every month-- it sucks!! If the preg test is negative. They will probably do 2 or 3 types of scans depending on what they find. They will do the normal ultrasound that they just run over your belly. If they do find cysts they can do a different type of scan that can check to see if their is blood flow to the cyst (thats bad!), and finally they might do an ultrasound where they place the wand up in you-- its horrible! They roll a condom up on this thing and then hand it over for you to PLACE. Ick. Good luck, hope you feel better!

I think the best answer you are going to get is from your doctor. I just had an ovarian cyst removed that was the size of a softball but had absolutly no symptoms or pain. All cysts are different. Large or small seems to make no difference regarding pain. If it is indeed a cyst, it could be one of those tangled ones that get around fallopian tubes and that might be the kind that cause pain. Everyone's pain tollerence is unique. Go back to the doctor if the pain is unbearable. YOU are the expert when it comes how you feel. Don't take "no" for an answer.

You didn't say if you had a chance of being pregnant. I'm worried that you could have an ectopic pregnancy. In which case could be fatal if it erupts.
I also have hpv, but have not experienced any abdominal pain. I'd just keep taking those Darvocets. They've got to be relieving some of the pain.
Just try to relax and do what the doctor says. I hope that you feel better soon.

My friend had something similar - it was a burst cyst. Extremely painful. But I don't know your medical history/details and am not a doctor. Trust your doctor.
If it gets worse before your appointment GO TO THE ER RIGHT AWAY! I know you were there previously, but be persistent. Really, what if it's an ectopic pregnancy or something? At worst you will have waited around in a hospital and will feel like an idiot - but what if it is something serious?

well my sister had a close thing happen to her. it was about a month ago and when she went to the er they gave her some vicodine to help with the pain and told her to go to the gyn in the next week....when she went a HUGE shocker came about.... they told her that she had pelvic inflamitory disease but it would go away with some anti-biotics and a little time and sure enough it did but every now and then she still has problems but nothing like before to where she could not tolorate the pain but i am telling you er docotors can't really tell you by an x-ray (what they did to her) and you would think with something sever as that they could see it, but guess not. Good luck and hope everything is ok!

i am the person to speak to. I had those severe pains when i was 23. I went to ER and they did ultrasound. I had 5 ovarian cysts around my right ovary. One being the size of an orange and it burst and gave me severe pain. I was operated on the next morning. Laporoscopy surgery. Cysts reoccur. I get them every so often. My gyn puts me on birth control pills to diminish the cysts. I would not worry about cancer. But make sure you go for your annual visits. take care and get better. Try percocets for pain.
